Re: Something is very wrong with fractions
What data limit did you use for the generated kerning? 128k less more? IDK, but if that's small enough, it might make Kern On decide to leave fraction kerning out. you might also get a good result from using 0k which I think tells kern on to kern everything.

No, I meant going into the kerning window for one master and copying that data and pasting it into another master.

Re: Handwritten/Script font
Given recent font making history in which as an industry we have tended to make joining fonts like Pinyon ( in which the joins are included with the letter - and not separate glyphs as they are with Breim) it seems *very smart* of you to find a way to permit that approach! Bravo. Because pinyon's me...

Re: Handwritten/Script font
I was not able to use kern on for Pinyon ( google fonts ) because the model for joins was right side extends and has to be precisely right or it breaks. But I did a technical production an extension of a different joined script https://github.com/SorkinType/Briem-Script (*) Because the joins are ins...

Re: Is it possible to copy kerning from one style to another
Tim, What do you think of the idea of just copying the metrics data from one master to the other? Would that provide an identical result? Would both result in the same data size in the saved font?

Re: Clicking "Ignore" on warnings doesn't ignore warnings
I think that this is Kern-On's way of telling you your base spacing is slightly awry or inconsistent. If you tweak your spacing by a few units, the notice may go away. I have also found with some designs ( especially large optical size ones ) Kern-On's standards may not be a fit or you may just have...

Re: Handling Large Set of Custom-Named Alternate Glyphs
To scale back from 25 Million pairs perhaps after a kern-on process some groups of glyphs could be forced to share a logical set of kerning groups? To what extent does Kern on do this already if you have set autopairs or are autopairs excluded from Groups? I have thought it might be nice to be able ...

Re: Too loose compared to the exact same interaction elsewhere?
I suspect the answer, for now, may be that your models are inconsistent. But it would be great to be able to ask Kern-on about the source of the inconsistency so that it is faster to resolve.

I do think it was fontmake now because starting with a fresh/new GF template made the issue go away using the same Glyphs 2 file.

Re: Fontmake - avoiding overflow
Initially yes, but even after I re-ran Kern-on with the setting 35k it still happens. Could it be that the old larger number of kerns are not reduced after it is run at a larger memory (k) value?

Fontmake - avoiding overflow
I am wondering if anyone has insights into how to avoid an overflow post kern on when you run fontmake. I am using fontmake in the googlefonts/googlefonts-project-template. The funny thing is I have been able to build without this error even with pretty big glyph sets! So I am guessed maybe somethin...

Re: Do we need kerning against the space character?
I wonder if, as a stop-gap measure, it would be possible to assign the value of another glyph to the word space. I was thinking about the period, for example. This isn't really ideal because letters that extend low, such as 'A' would not benefit. So 'A A' wouldn't get kerned. I wonder if Kern-on ker...

Stylistic sets and alts
I think I recall reading that Kern-on looks to kern glyphs that have unicodes but not those with no unicode. In general this makes sense, but if you have stylistic sets you have to remember to code those manually at the end of the process - kind of like kerning for the workspace if you do that. It m...

Re: Do we need kerning against the space character?
I am excited about the possibility of getting the wordspace! I would be happy initially to be without triplets especially if that is something that might delay progress for pairs with the word space.

Re: Models quantity
It depends on how many kinds of numbers and if you have small caps and how seriously you take punctuation too I suppose. But I would say 90-140 to get a good result with 40-50 exceptions. The design would also play a role in this and could boost or reduce the number.

Maybe a workaround ( not ideal but workable if you have a tight deadline ) would be to decompose and manually space the numbers and slashes in fractions.

How many rounds of Kern On make sense to do?
I have been experimenting with a three-master design and I have done maybe 5-6 rounds for each master. In theory I suppose if you like your results you can just do one round. But speaking partly from the point of view of an idealist and partly from the point of view of practicality, and assuming you...

Pan African Latin
I was wondering if Kern On Supports Pan African Latin. Some of it may be easy in the sense that there is a common base glyph with (for me) a novel diacritic use. But others like the 'bhook' or 'dhook' might need to be written into a formal Kern On definition. 'Oopen' for example might be able to use...

The letters where the word space tends to look brighter/bigger than a default those with big open white spaces. H H no and vs T T yes. The Latin glyphs that I sometimes like to kern with space in caps are : A T V W Y X both sides; Right side L C F P K G; Left side J. The suitability of the gyph to k...

Re: Do we need kerning against the space character?
I like to have kerns to space for text faces because it allows me to get a more even grey in a paragraph than I could otherwise get. I aim to make the space itself appear more constant in brightness. In a really large optical size display face I might also want to because all the spacing becomes mor...
