Force inclusion of pairs

Post by claegg »

Hi Tim
I really need to enforce the inclusion of a number of pairs that I use in a CALT feature. I have them kerned, but they are not included in the font binary. I tried to do special spacing but that didn’t help. It’s Slovak LC hacek glyphs kerned against some calt alternates of other LC glyphs that are missing. I suspect KernOn thinks them less important than other things. Please advise.

What do you mean by "you have them kerned"? Do you have them set as models? That is the only way to force pairs to be included. The internal treatment of priorities of feature-reached glyphs is not accessible to edit by users. You can try your luck by editing the pair_frequencies.txt to give more importance to the glyphs in question, but that will not have an influence on the weighting of the fact that they are in an OT feature.

What Sebastian said.

Are the pairs being auto-kerned, or is Kern On not correctly applying the calt feature? (Which may happen in complicated setups, in this case please send me the file if possible.)
