Kerning Assistance Idea

OK, I admit I did not go through the forum to see if anyone else suggested this, but here’s the idea: After setting the initial non kerning pairs, I would like Kern On to ask me how would you like these handled and then give me a bunch of pairs it deems important in a new tab. Also it could work for groups like math and such. And then I would like it to give me another list with pairs that have large kerning, just to check.

What you describe is exactly the idea behind the model suggestions. The suggested pairs are practically Kern On asking, me how would you like these handled, and/or, please check this pair. What exactly is different in the method you have in mind?

Yes, you are correct, I should clarify. I just thought it would be nice if it listed e.g. 50 pairs (one per line) at once in a tab. Just so I don’t have to click that little arrow (next) over and over, and this way I feel we would get a better overview. And then when I’m done with that 50 bunch it gives me a new tab with 50 math pairs. Perhaps this could be introduced as an option? I agree it already does the same thing, but it’s feeding me one by one pair.

This is a very useful idea, an assistance in the process. I think KO should also add Kerning Strings Samples in that process of checking the early pairs results before expand. I currently use Grillitype Proof Generator https://github.com/grillitype/ProofGenerator

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, this is sensible and I have had somewhat similar requests, and ideas of my own. In future, I am planning to implement a feature that outputs a test text (based on my https://justanotherfoundry.com/generator), that includes those pairs that would be next in line as suggestions, and with interesting neighbours for a good comparison. One could include an option to focus on particular topics such as maths, punctuation or uppercase. Stay tuned!
